Career Empowerment:

Triangle Cafe - Malden

Triangle Cafe

We serve over 200 meals a day. Our staff to trainee ratio is 7:1 and over the past two years eight School-to-Career graduates interned in the Café.
Six of those trainees are now working in the community.

The Triangle Café provides comprehensive food service training and serves up two delectable meals every day. As trainees prepare food and provide excellent customer service, they are equipped for jobs in the growing service industry. Under the watchful eye of our Johnson & Wales trained chef trainees learn how to:

• Prepare salads, desserts and our signature soups
• Utilize recipes and commercial cooking equipment to prepare our daily special and deli sandwiches
• Provide friendly, customer-focused service to our guests
• Carefully follow food safety guidelines
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize the kitchen on a daily basis

Each trainee receives all the support they need to succeed. Bob Ross, our Café manager, teaches them to work independently, balance multiple responsibilities and thrive in a challenging environment. Case managers and employment specialists assist with Café orientation, regularly monitor trainees’ progress and assist with the transition to employment.
