Triangle Mission Statement

Triangle helps people with disabilities and their families achieve their highest possible levels of independence and self-sufficiency. We offer a rich, broad spectrum of services, providing support, challenge and opportunity to people throughout their lives. We are committed to providing services of the highest possible quality. Our motto, People with Ability, highlights our focus on identifying the interests, abilities and talents of every individual we work with.

History

Triangle was founded in 1971 by citizens in three adjoining communities who believed that people with disabilities could learn to lead more independent and dignified lives. Triangle began serving five people with developmental disabilities, and grew over the next decade to provide employment training for over 80 individuals and opened two community residences in Malden.

Until 2001, Triangle continued to grow incrementally and introduced on-site job opportunities for participants through its products and business enterprises. The organization developed additional programs, including Adult Day Health services. Approximately 350 individuals from 35 communities were served annually.

The past six years have been characterized by an explosion of growth, change and new opportunities. Triangle now serves over 2000 people from 140 communities in Eastern Massachusetts. Participants choose from 15 locations -- five employment service centers and ten residences -- to identify a program that best meets their needs. We have facilities located in Malden, Danvers, Beverly, Reading, Lynn, Salem, Middleboro and Waltham. Triangle's diverse offerings now include an award-winning School-to-Career program for young adults with disabilities, an array of Deaf Services focused on career planning, an award-winning cable access television show called Able.Vision, Adult Day Health services to help individuals meet the challenges of aging and centers for fitness and technology.
